Programme Directors

Dr. Janny Leung

Janny.jpgDr. Leung is Associate Professor of English and Programme Director of Law and Literary Studies (BA&LLB) programme at The University of Hong Kong.  Her current research interest lies in the interdisciplinary area of language and law, with a particular focus on multilingual legal practice. Dr. Leung teaches LALS3003 Language and the Law as well as LALS3009 Language Rights and Linguistic Justice in the programme, and supervises the research of senior students.


Dr. Marco Wan

Marco.JPG Dr. Wan is Associate Professor of Law and Programme Director of Law and Literary Studies (BA&LLB) programme at The University of Hong Kong. His areas of interest include law and literature, law and film, law and sexuality, and legal/critical theory. Dr. Wan teaches LALS3001 Law and Literature and LALS3004 Law and Film in the programme, and supervises the research of senior students.



Deputy Directors

Dr. Daniel Matthews

Dan.jpgDr. Matthews is Assistant Professor of Law and Deputy Director of the Law and Literary Studies (BA&LLB) programme at the University of Hong Kong. He teaches and researches in the fields of legal theory and law and literature. Dr. Matthews has taught LALS2001 Introduction to Law and Literary Studies and LALS3007 Law, Culture and Critique for the programme. He also supervises the research of senior students.

 


Dr. Anya Adair

Dr. Adair is Assistant Professor of English, Assistant Professor of Law, and Deputy Director of the Law and Literary Studies (BA&LLB) programme at the University of Hong Kong. She researches medieval English literature, as well as pre-modern English law and legal culture. She has taught LALS2001 Introduction to Law and Literary Studies and LALS3010 The Beginnings of English Law and Literature for the programme. She also supervises the research of senior students.

Professor Christopher Hutton

Professor Hutton is Chair Professor of English. His research focuses on political issues in language and linguistics. He teaches LALS3001 Law, Meaning and Interpretation for the BA&LLB programme. He also supervises the research of senior students.

 

 


Professor Kendall Johnson

Professor Johnson is Professor of English. He teaches and researches in American literature and law. He teaches LALS3005 Legal Fictions: United States Citizenship and the Right to Write in America for the BA&LLB programme.

 


Professor Scott Veitch

Veitch.JPGProfessor Veitch is Paul K C Chung Professor in Jurisprudence. Professor Veitch writes and teaches in the areas of legal, social and political theory. He teaches LALS3006 Advanced Legal Theory for the BA&LLB programme. He also supervises the research of senior students.

 


Dr. Michael Ng

Dr. Ng is Associate Professor of Law and Director of Centre for Chinese Law. He is a legal historian focusing on the legal history of China and Hong Kong in the 19th and 20th centuries. He co-teaches LALS3008 Law, History and Culture with Dr. John Wong for the BA&LLB programme.

 

 


Dr. John Wong

Dr. Wong is Assistant Professor in Hong Kong Studies. He researches on the flow of people, goods, capital and ideas in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta area. He co-teaches LALS3008 Law, History and Culture with Dr. Michael Ng for the BA&LLB programme.
